Take care of your family’s wellbeing

Whether family members are biological, adopted, blended, step-related or any combination of the above, there are always ways to improve current family dynamics. Family counselling also describes care that supports children who are sharing time between two families, whether parents are experiencing high conflict, low conflict or getting along well.

This type of therapy is comprised of "puzzle pieces", including individual support, parenting support and/or family counselling, depending on the unique needs and goals of each family. Family counselling will help you strengthen your relationships as well as empower your child(ren) to feel more secure and confident in various situations.

You, on the other hand, will get a better understanding of your child and family dynamics. I will help you acquire the skills necessary to build strong bonds within your family, improve communication and cultivate respect among family members.

Child & family counselling tailored to meet your
family’s needs

Family counselling is tailored to meet your family’s needs. We often begin with two or more parent sessions to discuss your family's needs and goals for counselling.

Following this, we will begin sessions where we will nurture your relationships while also talking about the things that matter most. With every family, my focus is on creating a comfortable, safe and non-judgmental environment where each person is respected and valued and may share their thoughts, feelings, and perspectives. It is also a place for each one to focus on the family's goals, learn together and develop new skills.

My family therapy approach

My therapeutic approach is supportive and non-judgmental. Together, we will develop a plan to meet your goals, which can include:

  • Managing  difficult and mixed emotions that your family may be struggling with

  • Building problem-solving skills for managing your current family challenges

  • Improving communication skills

  • Adjusting to different stages of your child or youth’s development

I use an integrative therapy approach based on your goals and provide support for your child(ren) and family as you work toward those goals. As a parent of neurodivergent children, I highly value the lived experience of the children and parents I support.

My goal for you and your therapy is to help you feel more confident, better equipped and optimistic about current and future challenges that come your family’s way.

Child counselling

Counselling helps your child overcome challenges that can arise with changes, such as divorce, a new school, or the death of a loved family member. It provides a safe and developmentally appropriate setting for your child to benefit in a variety of ways, such as expressing emotions, building on their strengths, and developing problem-solving skills.

child counselling

We will work as a team. This can include individual support for your child, as well as counselling for you, as parents or caregivers, to share approaches and strategies that will be helpful for your child. I can also provide counselling for parents/caregivers and a child(ren) together, depending on the needs and goals.

Sessions for children often include play therapy approaches, as play is the way younger children express themselves and make sense of their relationships and experiences.

Parenting support
  • Is your child struggling to sleep, eat or comply with requests?

  • Are mornings and evenings stressful?

  • Is your child struggling at home, in the community or in school?

  • Do you struggle with anxiety, stress, impatience or feel bad about how you are responding to your child at times?

  • Does your child seem to have higher needs than other children?

parenting support

These are challenges parents need to deal with frequently. That's not surprising; children do not come with an instructional manual, and every child is unique, with their own personality, strengths and challenges. A child's need for support can also change over time. Parents don't always know how to answer those needs. Connect with me for support.

Tailoring strategies to meet your child’s needs, as well as your own, is something you can do with my support.

It can make a world of difference to have effective strategies to meet your own needs as well as the needs of your child.

As a result, parenting can feel easier and more enjoyable. Let me support you in your role as a parent.
